Streetscapes: Akron in Plein Air is pleased to announce the judge for the 2012 plein air painting event taking place in downtown Akron on July 27 to 29.
Charles Basham will choose the best in show, second and thirrd place paintings, as well as any honorable mention he would like to recognize for the show's opening Aug. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Summit Artspace.
Charles Basham received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Kent State University, and now resides in Medina County on the family farm where he grew up. Basham has enjoyed national acclaim for his landscape paintings which experiment with the presence of subtle changes in weather and atmosphere. Basham's oil and pastel paintings utilized harmonized color with their saturation and color temperatures pushed to created energetic and dramatic scenes of mid-western and coastal areas.
Streetscapes: Akron in Plein Air will provide live updates including current artist locations and photos of the artists and their works in progress. Follow S:AiPA 2012 on Facebook by finding the page called Streetscapes: Akron in Plein Air. Updates will begin around 9 a.m. on Friday, July 27 and continue through the weekend until the artist have turned in their works on Sunday, July 29 at 6 p.m. Log in to find the artists, then come downtown to see the work as it happens.
