The Akron Art Museum offers a series of Kids Art Classes, which are ideal weekend activities for the remaining winter months. Children will get a chance to experience the museum's renowned art collection and create masterpieces of their own.
The classes are designed for children ages 6 to 12 years old, and adults are welcome but not required to attend with children. The cost for each class is $10 for each member child, and $15 for each non-member child. Pre-registration is required and space is limited, according to the museum.
Sculpture: Cast Away is Feb. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants will add a third dimension to their art skills by viewing the newly installed sculpture "Seer (Alice I)" by artist Kiki Smith then creating their own sculptures with magically messy (and fast-drying) plaster casting cloth.

Magical, Mini Worlds is Feb. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Participants have a chance to take big ideas and turn them into tiny (but mighty) works of art, by first exploring the imaginative, over-sized story world dreamed up by Trenton Doyle Hancock and the incredible miniature scenes captured in glass by Paul Stankard, then telling their own stories by creating a playful, small scale diorama from all sorts of mixed-up materials.

Awesome Art Cards is March 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In the spirit of baseball cards, Pokémon cards or Dungeons and Dragons playing cards, participants will be able to make their own personalized art trading cards while learning three unique art-making techniques. Children will experiment with collage, try their hands at printmaking and embrace the art of watercolor while making tradable cards.
