Akron Film+Pixel is inviting local filmmakers to dig up their early attempts at movies for a free special event June 14 at The Lockview (207 South Main St.) at 8 p.m.
“We’re looking for your first attempt at making a movie,” said Rob Lucas, Akron Film+Pixel's communication director. “Something more than just home videos, but before you made your first polished professional project. I’m looking forward to seeing those sixth grade renditions of Siddhartha from 1992. And don’t worry, we’ll be laughing with you.”
Registration is free, and while it is not required, it is encouraged. Filmmakers may register by sending their name, title and length of the movie to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
Akron Film+Pixel will provide a DVD player, a VHS VCR, a VHS-C adaptor and a Mini-DV player. If filmmakers have a movie on a different format, they must bring a player with standard RCA outputs or the necessary film projector. It is requested that all movies be no more than roughly 10 minutes in length. Filmmakers will be asked to speak before their movie to introduce themselves and provide a context for the video.
Attendance for this program is free and open to the public. Parking is free after 6 p.m. on Main Street. The event will be limited to the Lockview rooftop, so seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
