Aeros defeat Thunder in championship game

Tonight in Trenton, N.J., the Akron Aeros defeated the Trenton Thunder 6 to 1 to win the Eastern League Championship. For the Aeros it is their fifth championship in team history, and this allowed them to exact some revenge on the Thunder as they defeated the Aeros in the finals twice before.

Akron pounded out nine hits and they struck first in the top of the second inning with two runs, and they never looked back tonight. Ryan Rohlinger and Adam Abraham contributed with two hits each for the Aeros. The pitching was very crisp for Akron as Toru Murata pitched 6.1 innings and struck out seven hitters. Closer Preston Guilmet came in to finish the job as he pitched 1.1 innings tonight to record his fifth save in post season play.
