Open mic series for storytellers
— Wandering Aesthetics, Jilly’s Music Room and the Akronist will host the sixth Full Circle Storytelling event of the season, Wednesday, Feb. 22, 7 p.m. at Jilly’s Music Room, 111 N Main St. Residents are encouraged to listen or to share their own stories.
Full Circle Storytelling is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged, (especially for storytellers), but not required. To register or for more information, visit www.watheatre.com/fullcircle or email email@example.com.
The prompt for this installment is “The Great Outdoors.”
Open to all, Full Circle Storytelling events revolve around a prompt and the idea: everyone has a story. Sign up to tell a true story related to the evening’s prompt or just come to enjoy the show. (No experience necessary.) This intimate evening of storytelling will conjure the spirit of community. This month’s emcee is Cristina González Alcalá, co-founder of Not Yo’ Daddy’s Mexican Hot Sauce. Live music will be provided by Ben Gravatt.
“The universe is made of stories, not of atoms.” ― Muriel Rukeyser
Full Circle is an open mic for storytellers. Telling their own true tales, Akronites are placed at the center of their own life journeys. Based on the work of Joseph Campbell, we use narrative to ignite understanding between diverse peoples, building bridges– not walls– within our community.
We are creating a video and audio archive of stories from residents of the Greater Akron area. This archive may be used by students, journalists, researchers, artists, etc. for purposes beyond Full Circle Storytelling events. Participants at our live events are not required to have their stories recorded for our archive. Sometimes the magic is only for those in the room.
