Last night the Akron Aeros got shut out only for the third time this season 3-0. Three Thunder pitchers combined for the shutout. The Thunder claimed the first game of this four game set between two of the best teams in the Eastern League. This could be a preview of the championship of the Eastern League.
Aeros starter Brent Brach pitched well, however, a two-run second inning was far too much for the Aeros to come back from. Trenton pitcher Vidal Nuno had no problem as he pitched masterfully against The Aeros, only allowing four hits over six innings. Mark Montgomery and Ryan Pope also contributed to blank The Aeros. Pope got his fifth save.
The Aeros and The Thunder will play again Friday night at Canal Park Stadium as Paolo Espino will pitch for Akron. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
