Weathervane wants to get Akron moving this fall with Broadway Bodies dance class. Regardless of dance abilities, this energetic class combines the love of musical theater with exercise so that anyone 14 and older can participate. Classes begin Saturday, Sept. 17 and run weekly through Nov.19 (no class Oct. 22) from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Participants can attend for all nine weeks or choose to attend single classes depending on their availability or dance style preferences.
“This is an exercise class themed to Broadway musicals. If you love musical theater, you forget you are exercising,” said teacher Kevin Lambes who will lead the class. “Come to all or pick your favorite musical or choreographer and come to those specifically.”
Classes will contain tap, ballet, jazz and Latin dance. The goal can just be having fun and gaining flexibility, or preparing for your next dance call.
“Five, six, seven, eight, –time to get in shape! You love musical theater and you want to have fun exercising, I have the perfect class for you,” said Director of Education Sarah Bailey. “Prepare to get ‘Footloose’ and of course ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’ in this adult dance class. Our instructor will teach you choreography, help you gain flexibility and get in shape all while dancing in ‘A Chorus Line.’”
The cost of the class is $90 and participants can register in advance at www.weathervaneplayhouse.com/adults. To participate in select classes, contact Sarah Bailey at email@example.com.
