Registration is now open for the 9th Annual Hope Walk for Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center, which will take place May 9 in Fairlawn.
The first 500 registrants will receive a Hope Walk T-shirt at the event, and any team that raises over $500 will receive a $50 gift card to Second Sole or Lucky Shoes. Proceeds make it possible for Stewart’s to provide cancer wellness services, free of charge, to individuals and families touched by cancer.
The event committee is John Borstein, who shared, “Stewart’s work is non-clinical, yet critical in supporting healthier outcomes through reducing the negative impact of emotional stress, and providing relief to patients and caregivers.”
The Hope Walk is a 2.3 mile walk starting at the Fairlawn Community Center, Bicentennial Park 3486 South Smith Road in Fairlawn, and finishing at Stewart’s Caring Place, 2955 W. Market St., Suite R, in Akron. The honorary chair for the event is Michael Dilisio, owner of Second Sole.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and check-in, and the walk starts at 10:15 a.m. Day of event walker registration is $20. Anyone can register as an individual, create or join an existing team, or donate to the event online. Water and bananas will be available during registration at the start. Several food trucks selling lunch, live musical performances, and others will be at the finish at Stewart’s Caring Place.
