Akron Center For Art Music & Performance (ACAMP), located on Market Street in Akron, will host three workshops to be taught by Olive Persimmon of The Engaging Educator in NYC.
According to its website, “The Engaging Educator provides classes, programs and workshops that polish presentation skills, increase storytelling abilities and enhance communication, initiative and flexibility through improv-based continuing education.”
At the first workshop, Storytelling for Professionals, Persimmon teaches the basics of good storytelling, with an emphasis on telling stories in a natural, confident and improvisational manner in personal and professional settings.
At the second workshop, Improv(e) Your Communication Skills, Persimmon will use improv to help students learn to channel their nervousness. Participants will practice activities and learn warm-ups that will not only build confidence but also address the fear of public speaking.
The third workshop, Find Your Voice: Communication Empowerment for Women, was designed after hearing from too many women that they weren’t able to express themselves, either at work or in their relationships. The program focuses on confronting limiting beliefs about yourself, finding your voice and using it.
Storytelling for Professionals is offered on Thursday, June 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Improv(e) Your Communication Skills is offered on Tuesday, June 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Find Your Voice: Communication Empowerment for Women is offered on Wednesday, June 29, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The cost of the workshops is $50 per person per workshop, or $125 for for all three (a $25 discount).
Light appetizers will be served, and participants may bring their own beverages, including wine.
To register for any or all of these workshops, call (330) 607-5257 or email [email protected] to reserve your spot.
