The 2017 Jack-O-Lantern Jog, presented by the Kohl Family YMCA at University Park, may very well be the spookiest 5K in Akron as runners move through Akron’s historic Glendale Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 12 beginning at 6 p.m. The race starts and ends at Lock 3 (200 S Main St).
Those who register in advance will receive a signature Jack-O-Lantern Jog presented by NECA/IBEW plush pumpkin along with swag bag, long sleeve T-shirt, post-race refreshments and child watch for children while parents run the race, along with a free entry for the runner or the runner’s family in the one-mile fun run.
All finishers of the 5K will receive a metal race medal.
To register, visit www.hermescleveland.com and click the “register now” button. Participation for the 5K run is $25 until RACE DAY, then $30 (cash or check) on the day of the event.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners and the top three male and female runners in the following age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over.
Prizes also are given for costume contest winners in best group, best adult, best child and best try.
