The first ever Akron Farm and Flea Market will take place July 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lots outside Urban Eats and Musica at 51 E. Market St in Akron. The goal of the Akron Farm and Flea Market is to provide a weekly shopping, eating and entertainment experience that is uniquely Akron.
Vendors will change each week and will include rummage, vintage, arts, crafts, farm produce, food and services like massage and yoga.
Market Director J Hudson said, “The plan is to have the flea market every Saturday after July 12 until it gets too cold outside. Then we want to movie inside Musica and have the market once a month during the winter.
“Because the vendors will sign up on a weekly basis,” Hudson added,” you never know what you’ll find when you visit. People can bring their garage sale goods to the flea to sell and be beside a wood worker, artist, craft person, farmer or gardener. The serendipity of the flea market adds to the fun. Not knowing what you’ll find is what makes it a treasure hunt.”
But Hudson said some things will always be at the market. “We’ll always have food, coffee and other drinks from Urban Eats and Musica. This is a rain or shine event, and our vendors will pay as they go. We’re sort of like an outdoor thrift store but with art, crafts, food and music too.”
