Students at Judith A. Resnik CLC (Akron Public Schools) unveiled an eye-catching dropbox that residents can use to properly dispose of their retired American flags. Sgt. Todd Fitzwater led the project and presented a display of U.S. and military flags cut from the uniforms of service members, and Deputy Mayor James Hardy read a proclamation from the city declaring Oct. 7, 2016 as American Flag Retirement Day. The project involved a number of partners, like East High School’s JROTC, Boy Scouts of America Troop 1, Cub Scout Pack 3001 and Eagle Scout Jacob Murray. East High students also created the dropbox. Residents can drop off their old flags at the school, located at 65 N. Meadowcroft Dr.
