The Canton Museum of Art (CMA) has named Rob Lehr as the museum’s new director of marketing
and communications. Lehr is responsible for the day-to-day management of marketing and branding, advertising, public relations, social media, and exhibit promotional programs, as well as membership development, special events and exhibition programming, and fundraising support.
“Rob’s marketing, public relations, and social media savvy provide an excellent addition to our Canton Museum of Art team and programs initiated over the last several years,” says Max Barton, executive director. “Rob brings a fresh perspective for reaching diverse audiences, both inside and outside of the Museum, and connecting their lives to the wonder of art. His connections to the visual and performing arts communities throughout the region will be valuable to our collaboration and engagement initiatives for the arts corridor stretching throughout Stark, Summit, Cuyahoga, and surrounding counties.”
Lehr brings more than eight years of marketing expertise to the Canton Museum of Art. He currently serves as gallery director at Summit ArtSpace Gallery, a non-profit art gallery sponsored by the Akron Area Arts Alliance, and is founder of the online Curatorial Collective (www.curatorialcollective.com), a contemporary art news website covering Northeast Ohio and the region. He served as marketing and web development manager for Akron Design & Costume, a nationally recognized retailer for theatre and artistic costuming. Since 2008, he has provided marketing, membership development, and curatorial support to Northeast Ohio’s Artists of Rubber City. He has also served as a juror for exhibitions at Kent State University Stark, the Massillon Museum, and the Barberton Community Foundation, as well as curator for presentations at the Akron Art Museum and John S. Knight Center.
Lehr earned his BFA in printmaking from the Mary Schiller Myers School of Art at The University of Akron.
