The City of Barberton, Barberton Community Foundation and Leadership Akron are partnering to offer the Barberton Community Leadership Institute (CLI) to 15 to 20 community-minded citizens who live or work in Barberton. Deadline for applying is Friday, Jan. 15.
Piloted in 2015, the Barberton CLI will offer a series of learning experiences in which participants discover community assets, explore involvement and develop as community and professional leaders. The Barberton CLI is a one-of-a-kind CLI customized to serve a specific community, while also emphasizing the countywide perspective.
The Barberton Community Leadership Institute will feature community-based learning experiences focused on Barberton’s key assets and decision-makers. Through this program, each participant will grow as a leader and see how the impact of their involvement can help advance Barberton’s well-being, and how these connect to the overall picture of Summit County.
“Our goal for this CLI is to provide the leaders of Barberton with diverse experiences that will shed light on new perspectives for them as professionals and citizens of their community,” said Mark Scheffler, president of Leadership Akron.
“Barberton CLI is another way Barberton is taking the next step in preparing for our future. The initiative creates a pipeline for current and future leaders in our community. Our collaboration with the city and Leadership Akron has allowed us to put together a high performing program,” said Jim Stonkus, president & CEO, Barberton Community Foundation.
The program will run March through May, 2016. Applications are now being accepted until Feb. 12. Visit http://www.leadershipakron.org/barberton-community-leadership-institute to apply.
