Summit Artspace, whose mission is to support artists, will again offer the Artist as Entrepreneur Institute (AEI) program, Oct. 27 through Dec. 8.
AEI is open to individuals who are interested in or are already becoming entrepreneurs in the creative arts, including but not limited to visual art, music, theater, dance and writing. AEI is presented at Summit Artspace on East Market Street, in partnership with the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture and the Burton D. Morgan Foundation.
Participants will receive foundational business knowledge and hands-on training as part of the curriculum. Individuals will also have the opportunity to meet with and learn from successful creative entrepreneurs in Akron and the surrounding area. In addition to the class curriculum, participants will enjoy the benefits of a supportive peer group and the exchange of unique perspectives on artists’ entrepreneurship.
The accelerated schedule will include Saturday classes, noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 27, Nov. 17 and Dec. 8; and Wednesday classes, 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 6 and Nov. 28. The classes take place at Summit Artspace on East Market, 140 E. Market St., in downtown Akron.
To register, go to www.summitartspace.org/aei-2. The cost is $125 for the six-week session. It includes the full AEI curriculum, as well as all materials and off-site events. Participants may also contact [email protected] to register or for more information.
