Painter and assemblage artist Jenniffer Omaitz enjoys making connections with other artists. Her fall Akron Soul Train fellowship will follow the thinking of “Other Geometries,” a meeting point for people, and an invisible layer of knowledge that’s gifted between fellow artists.
“So this idea of Other Geometries is a way to get out of the studio and a way for me to interact with other artists, to collaborate,” says Omaitz, who will combine her acrylic paintings with items collected from other artists. “People I’m working with specifically have a heavy base or a heavy identity in Akron, and that’s important to me.” Omaitz will give an artist talk — Jenniffer Omaitz Artist Talk — at the Akron Art Museum Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. For info, visit www.akronsoultrain.org.
