In its continuing mission to empower local HIV-positive and LGBTQ populations, Community AIDS Network/Akron Pride Initiative (CANAPI) will host its annual Race at the Raffle event to benefit the organization’s programming.
The event take splace Saturday, April 9, 5:30 to 10 p.m. at The Tangier in Akron.
“The need for acceptance and understanding is a common human experience,” said Rebecca Callahan, executive director. “CANAPI’s mission involves clearing away those stigmas surrounding being HIV-positive or LGBTQ so we don’t lose sight of that commonality.”
The event will feature entertainingly narrated horse races that are sponsored and bet on by participants, a reverse raffle, sideboards, 50/50 raffle and both silent and live auctions.
Ten race sponsorships are available on a first-come first-served basis, as are special table rates, which include discount admission tickets and the rights to name your table and horse.
Horse sponsorships including naming are available for $20. Tickets are $100 per person and include a reverse raffle ticket, open bar and hors d’oeuvres. For more information and instructions for registration, visit canapi.org/events.
