To celebrate the wrapup of a busy season at the Mustill Store Museum, the Locktoberfest at Cascade Locks Park takes place Friday, Oct. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m.
The event also includes a tour of the up and coming urban live/work/play space, The Cascade Lofts at 5:30 p.m.
A storyteller from the Akron-Summit County Public Library’s children’s department will regale young people with stories at 6:30 p.m. Pumpkins will be available for carving while they last. At 7 p.m., the youth group from the German Family Society will perform.
“The Locktoberfest is a fun way to wrap up our busy season at the museum,” said Don Gordon Interim Executive Director of Cascade Locks Park Association. “It’s a family-friendly fall event, and we encourage everyone to stop in and enjoy a bite to eat, great music and entertainment, the beautiful towpath and the history of Akron.”
This year’s event sponsors are Cascade Lofts and Excelsior Marking. “The generous support of both these companies allows us to hold this wonderful event,” said Beth Leipold, operations manager of Cascade Locks.
The event is free, but a ticket purchased for $5 will buy a dinner consisting of German sausage, a spaetzel dish, sauerkraut and a roll or a child’s meal of a hotdog, applesauce and pretzel. Beer is being supplied from the local nano-brewery Aqueduct. A 50/50 raffle will also take place.
