Upload videos using #ThisCityVotes16
Local students are encouraged to get involved in the voting process by submitting a 90-second or less video of them explaining the importance of voting using the hashtag #ThisCityVotes16.
The contest is part of the civility project of Summit Education Initiative’s This City Reads! effort and is a collaboration with the Akron Beacon Journal and the Jefferson Center, based in St. Paul, Minn.
Students may submit the video by clicking this link or upload the video to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag “#ThisCityVotes16.” Submissions are due Sept. 30.
The general public and Akron Beacon Journal staff will vote on their favorite videos by age group. Winners will receive cash prizes and all other participants will be entered into drawings for additional prizes. Once uploaded, submissions may be viewed here.
