Residents showed their love of Akron with an artistic flair by creating art on the sidewalk on a recent Saturday in May.
The Chalk Walk — which took place on Main Street, between Exchange and Cedar — included sidewalk murals and community participation for a true public art event.
The project was organized by the Downtown Akron Partnership Emerging Leaders and is part of the MyAkron initiative, which enables citizens to be part of the change they’d like to see in downtown Akron.
“My Akron is a way for individuals in the community to share their ideas on how to enhance downtown,” said Kimberly Beckett, director of business relations for the Downtown Akron Partnership, who said the organization would like to host more chalking events throughout the year.
Residents are encouraged to share any project ideas they may have for the MyAkron initiative. Projects must take place in downtown and have a budget of less than $500. The next MyAkron event will be in July.
