Summit County Children Services is seeking the community’s assistance to ensure that children in need who are receiving agency services will begin the school year prepared with brand new school supplies to help them succeed in the classroom.
Each year, the agency are gives backpacks filled with school supplies to children it serves. Due to budget constraints, the agency depends on the generosity of the community’s organizations and individual donors in order to provide these school supplies.
A donation of $30 will purchase a backpack and school supplies for elementary school children. A $35 donation will provide a backpack and school supplies for middle school students. And, a donation of $40 will provide essentials for a high school student – including a scientific calculator. Monetary donations may be made online through PayPal at summitkids.org (click on Donor/Volunteer Opportunities and use the “Donate Now” button).
Individuals may also mail a donation to the agency, 264 S. Arlington St., Akron, 44306 — in care of the Community Relations Department. Checks should be made payable to Summit County Children Services.
For those who prefer to shop for school supplies and donate the items, a list of the essential supplies needed is also available on the agency’s website by clicking here (you can also view the list below). Please note: It is requested that all donations be delivered to the agency between Monday, July 24 and Friday, Aug. 4 so that volunteers may pack them into backpacks on Saturday, Aug. 5.
