
Children’s Concert Society will celebrate the winners of the Scholastic Composer’s Contest on Wednesday, April 3, 6 p.m. at Portage Country Club, 240 N. Portage Path. The first-place winners will have the opportunity to perform their winning compositions, which were judged by the University of Akron Theory and Composition Department.

This event, which is free and open to the public, is in its 66th year, originally created by Ralph Gillman—Superintendent of Summit County Schools. Scholarship winners will be announced that evening and a reception will follow. Twenty other compositions earned second or third place and 11 earned honorable mention.
