STORYTELLING WITH PHOTOS & VIDEOS – EDITING BASICS
1 1/2 hours; at the ADMC lab, in the Akron-Summit County Main Library in downtown Akron, 60 S. High St.
- Operating a digital photo camera and video camera.
- Basic composition. The selective eye of the camera (framing and focus).
- Storytelling with the camera (line, angle, space, motion, depth of field).
- People and places (using props, mood, texture, angles and lines).
- Capturing emotion/action.
- Rule of thirds.
- Editing your photos.
- Lighting (natural, ambient, studio).
- Think before you shoot (planning your video).
- Writing a treatment (action statement, purpose, content, style, shots, interview).
- Pre-production (shot list, scripting, interviews, narration).
- The importance of B-Roll.
- The interview.
- Camera techniques.
- Microphone and lighting basics.
- Editing basics and techniques.
- Editing for impact – titles, credits and color correction.
- Examples of editing techniques that work and those that don’t work.
- This workshop will be dedicated to editing footage that was shot before this session and finalizing titles, credits, transitions, audio, etc.
