Concert Series: Graduate Brass Quintet (The University of Akron) Thursday, April 21, 7 p.m.
— Hower House Museum presents The University of Akron’s Graduate Brass Quintet, under the direction of Dr. Christopher Blaha, performing in the round.
The program includes a variety of music from classical to The Beatles. Featured pieces include the “Canzona Bergamasca” by Samuel Scheidt, Brass Quintet No.3 (Op. 7) by Victor Ewald, and Lennon and McCartney’s “Yesterday” and “Ob-La-Di.”
Performers: Evan Foltz is a second-year graduate student studying the trumpet, from Lexington, OH, and completed his undergraduate studies at Ohio Wesleyan University. Dillon Shidemantle is a first-year graduate student studying the trumpet, from Conneautville, PA, and completed his undergraduate studies at Mercyhurst College. Ben Hottensmith is a second-year graduate student studying the French horn, from Brunswick, OH, and completed his undergraduate studies at Kent State University. Christian Giunta is a second-year graduate student studying the trombone, from Bronx, NY, and completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Fredonia. Nicholas Albanese is a first-year graduate student studying the tuba, from Hopewell Junction, NY, and completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Fredonia.

Free parking available on-site and in nearby UA lots. The admission goes to The University of Akron School of Music Scholarship Fund and The Hower House Conservation Fund to conserve the collection of decorative arts. Guests are invited to stay for light refreshment and to tour the house.
