Shaken or stirred? Whatever your preference, Lorilei Bailey will teach you to do it right at one of three classes in a Craft Cocktail series held by Countryside Conservancy at their farmers’ market in Howe Meadow.
Outdoors against the backdrop of the market, Bailey will demonstrate how to showcase local, seasonal fruits and vegetables in your summer libations. Each event is $20 and includes two brunch cocktails. Classes take place at 10:30 a.m. on June 13, July 11 and August 8, and concentrate on vodka, gin and whiskey, respectively.
Bailey is a decorated bartender and well-known friendly face in the Cleveland craft cocktail scene. She has twice won Cleveland’s “Most Imaginative Bartender Competition” sponsored by Bombay Sapphire, as well as taken second place in Cleveland’s Campari and Don Julio competitions. Scene magazine also chose her as “Cleveland’s Best Bartender 2014.” A veteran of the Bar Car at The Katz Club and L’Albatro Brasserie, she currently serves up cocktails at Spice Kitchen and Bar where she has created one of the best cocktail programs in the city of Cleveland.
Craft Cocktails is part of Countryside U, an educational program designed to inspire and inform gardeners, home cooks, farmers and food producers in Northeast Ohio. Classes cover topics ranging from DIY skills like home breadmaking and fermentation to more advanced topics like managing a farm business. All classes are led by experienced instructors and held in the greater Akron area.
