Are you a last minute shopper? Crafty Mart @ Goodyear is the holiday show for you. On Friday, Dec. 23, from noon to 7 p.m., Crafty Mart will host nearly 70 local artists and makers offering handmade and up-cycled items created throughout the greater Akron area. This 11th-hour event is the party to enjoy just before the Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year holidays.
Take in the best of creativity the Rubber City has to offer, and buy directly from the artisans who hand-craft their wares.
The Crafty Mart @ Goodyear vendors include woodworkers, fiber artists, printmakers, graphic designers, painters, ceramicists, boutique candy makers and chocolatiers, health and beauty product makers, jewelry designers, glass artists, T-shirt and clothing designers and those who work with leather goods, among others. A complete list of vendors can be found on the website: www.craftymart.org/new-page-3.
Crafty Mart @ Goodyear will also include a DJ from Akron’s own Mighty Soul Night, spinning funky cool music. There will also be food from Bomba Tacos and Western Fruit Basket.
Jennifer Davis of smARTStudio Akron will lead a Garland Party workshop that begins at 1 p.m., and participants will have the opportunity to learn to create a variety of holiday garland using yarns and colorful felt. There is no experience necessary and the workshop is geared toward all ages. Registration is required, and tickets may be purchased at tickethookups.com/events/1019826.
Admission to Crafty Mart @ Goodyear is free. There is plenty of free parking in the East End lot, a nearby overflow lot, and on the street.
Crafty Mart is the uncommon arts and craft marketplace in the Rubber City, first established in 2009. The group has grown to become a nonprofit organization, hosting events to showcase small business artists and makers. In 2013, Crafty Mart was voted one of the “Best of the City” by Akron Life Magazine. For info, visit www.craftymart.org.
