From 8-foot wingspans and fighter jets to palm-sized plastic models powered by thumbnail motors, an array of model airplanes and drones will take flight this weekend for the Northeast Ohio Electric Festival inside the Stile Athletics Field House on The University of Akron campus, March 20 through 22.
The event features pilots of all ages and skills, and is open to the public for $5. Admission is free for children under 12. The three-day festival will feature daily demonstrations of state-of-the-art electric-powered radio controlled model aircraft, along with several fun flying contests. Special guests: FliteTest will demo their Avengers-style helicarrier.
The event takes place March 20 through 22.

Friday, March 20 from 5 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Notable people will include Elizabeth Hammell, student member of The University of Akron’s Aero Design team; Austin Furey and Peter Sripol, FliteTest (with helicarrier); Andrew Ritschel, “extreme aerobatics” RC pilot; Marc Stermer, Mentor Area Radio Control Society (MARCS); and John Ashley, Corsair Model Aircraft Club.
