About the Workshop:
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at journalism, but didn’t know where to start? Do you struggle with how to promote your work, but feel intimated by social media? In preparation for the 20th annual First Night Akron, the Akronist is holding a series of mobile media workshops at local branches of the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Each hour-long session is a stand-alone class designed to give you an understanding of digital media “on-the-go.” Some of the subjects covered will include: uploading a video from your phone to YouTube, correctly and effectively using hashtags and composing the 140-character caption commonly known as a Tweet. Freelance journalist Yolanda Heisler will lead each workshop. At the end of each session, participants will upload a short video celebrating the 20th anniversary of First Night Akron using #20FirstNights. This class is open to ALL; there are no restrictions. Registration not required. Email [email protected] with any questions.
This workshop is a MUST for artists, musicians, vendors or anyone who wants to learn to better promote their work via social media.
