Gene Kelly will bring his famous dancing skills outside in Goodyear Heights Metro Park next weekend.
Together with the group Free Akron Outdoor Movies, Summit Metro Parks is co-hosting a free showing of “Singin’ in the Rain” Saturday, July 21. The sled hill will provide amphitheater-style seating in the park, located at 2077 Newton St., Akron.
The timeless film stars Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds and is considered the best film musical ever made.
The night will begin with food trucks and a nature-themed craft at 7 p.m. The movie will begin after sunset, at approximately 9 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, and a picnic to enjoy before the film. Moviegoers are asked to leave pets at home. The rain date is the following night, July 22.
“We’re thrilled to partner again for a second year with Summit Metro Parks to show an outdoor movie,” said Chris Miller of Free Akron Outdoor Movies. “We had great turnout last year, and we’re expecting even more people this time.”
