Willy Wonka is bringing his famed chocolate factory to Goodyear Heights Metro Park later this month.
Together with the group Free Akron Outdoor Movies and the Akronist, Summit Metro Parks is co-hosting a free showing of “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory” Saturday, July 22.
The sled hill will provide amphitheater-style seating in the park, located at 2077 Newton St., in Akron. The timeless, fun-for-all ages film starring Gene Wilder is Rated G.
The night will begin with food trucks and a nature-themed craft at 7 p.m. The movie will begin after sunset, at approximately 9 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets, and a picnic to enjoy before the film. Moviegoers also are asked to leave pets at home. The rain date is the following night, July 23.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Summit Metro Parks for our first outdoor movie of the summer,” said Karen Starr of Free Akron Outdoor Movies. “The beautiful park has plenty of parking and room for guests to spread out.”
