This video was filmed at Summit Artspace as part of Full Circle Storytelling, Vol. 1’s season finale performance.
Last year, Wandering Aesthetics and The Akronist teamed up to produce eight Full Circle Storytelling open mics – each revolving around a theme and the idea: everyone has a story. From these storytelling events, ten storytellers were chosen to perform at Full Circle Storytelling: Collected Works. Each storyteller worked one-on-one with Storyteller Kyle Jozsa to further craft their true stories and hone their technique. Stories ranged from heart wrenching to hysterical – and everywhere in-between!
Open to the public, Full Circle open mics revolve around a theme and the idea: everyone has a story. By encouraging community members to tell their own true tales, each storyteller is placed at the center of his or her own life journey. We use narrative as a way to promote understanding between diverse peoples, building bridges – not walls – within our community. Co-hosted by Wandering Aesthetics and the Akronist, these intimate evenings of storytelling conjure the spirit of community.
We are creating an archive of stories from Greater Akron residents. This archive may be used by students, journalists, researchers, artists, etc. for purposes beyond Full Circle Storytelling events.
Participants at our live events are not required to have their stories recorded for our archive. Sometimes the magic is only for those in the room.
