At one time Cathy Johnson weighed in at over 300 pounds. She had a number of health issues and was taking several medications. Johnson spent $25,000 a year (with insurance) on health care due to her deteriorating condition. She knew death was knocking on her door and that she had to make a change.
Johnson refers to this time as a self-induced (yet delicious) prison and then realized that she needed to make changes in order to stay alive and live free. Now she seeks to teach others the path to freedom and learn to not be a slave to food. She called her former self a “flatliner” and now she has a second chance at a true life and in her words, “It’s on!”
Johnson now wants to eat to live, not live to eat, and she wants to teach others how this can be done with her philosophy of “change your mind, to change your life.”
She hosts a support group at The House Of The Lord, 1650 Diagonal Road, in Akron. For info, visit The House Of The Lord at thotl.org.
