Agency will host annual meeting, Celebration of Champions March 21
In 2017, Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties helped 9,390 individuals through a number of services that offer assistance to people struggling to find employment: career exploration and advising; resume and interview preparation; skill identification; work experience opportunities; skills training; and job coaching, development and placement.
The agency even provides support to local businesses in terms of recruiting, applicant screening and skill assessments. These services are possible through the generous donations from more than 461,000 donors and 941,000 Goodwill shoppers that support the mission to help individuals prepare for, find and retain employment.
The agency will formally present these 2017 service numbers at its Annual Meeting and Celebration of Champions event Wednesday, March 21, 5 p.m. at Guy’s Party Center, 500 E. Waterloo Road.
“We are grateful to our generous donors as well as shoppers in the counties we serve – their support enables us to continue our mission of helping individuals prepare for, find and retain employment,” said Gregory Morton, vice president, mission services & public relations, for Goodwill Industries serving Summit, Portage, Medina, Ashland and Richland Counties.
During this same period, the agency provided 343 individuals with training and work experience within Goodwill’s Retail and Contract Services operations, including 233 in work experience programing and 110 youth program participants.
Tickets to the annual meeting are $30 each. To register, visit www.goodwillakron.org/annualmtg, Text GIAAnnualMtg to 51555 or call (330) 786-2519
