Hazel Tree Interiors is celebrating their fifth business anniversary with a community open house and opening reception of the latest gallery show, “My World of Color,” on Saturday, Aug. 8 from noon to 5 p.m.
Hazel Tree Interiors opened in 2010, and for the past five years has provided award-winning interior design and custom picture framing services, along with a gallery of locally-made home furnishings and art, to the Northeast Ohio community.
The opening reception for “My World of Color,” by Elyria artist Ed Cebula, will take place during the open house. Hazel Tree Interiors featured Cebula’s work when they first opened their doors five years ago and have invited him back for a gallery show of his current works, in honor of the fifth anniversary.
Cebula’s current works have Cubist and Primitive Art influences. This is evident in his recent pastels, paintings and monotype prints with rich layers of color that intensify his linear compositions. The show’s title, “My World of Color” is a fitting description for his current collection.
Cebula is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and continued his studies at Oberlin College and The Cleveland Institute of Art. He was an art teacher in the Elyria City Schools for 36 years until his retirement in 1994.
At the open house, the works of many local artists and furniture makers will also be for sale. Refreshments will be served and there will be live music throughout the day by Mike Lenz, John Gouskos and members of Roxxymoron.
Hazel Tree Interiors is located at 143 W. Market St. in Akron in the building with the colorful tree mural that faces downtown. Year-round gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
