The 3rd Annual Highland Square Film Festival kicks off Friday, Dec. 11, but this year’s festival will be different than years past, as attendees may watch from the comfort of their homes. The festival, which runs through Jan. 3, takes place virtually and attendees may watch for free by visiting www.highlandsquareakron.org/film-fest or finding the event through the Highland Square Neighborhood Association’s Facebook page.

The film fest will feature 14 talented local filmmakers, with 12 short films in competition to win a $1,000 cash prize. The Film Fest will also feature Director Rob Lucas’ film, “Stella Walsh,” in memoriam of his life and career. Lucas passed away from cancer earlier this year.
While the film fest is free to watch, donations are encouraged to the Highland Square Neighborhood Organization, which runs this event and Porch Rokr each year. Proceeds will help events like this continue.
