Community members have donated more than 10,000 pieces of jewelry to ACCESS homeless shelter for women and children. The jewelry will be cleaned and sold for a community-wide sale Nov. 5, which will benefit the shelter.
The Jewelry Box: Gems of Generosity fundraiser, presented by Fred Martin SuperStore, will take place at the Fairlawn DoubleTree Saturday, Nov. 5.
The jewelry is being professionally cleaned by longtime partner of ACCESS Signet Jewelers and includes varieties ranging from costume jewelry, available for $5 per piece, to individually priced designer pieces, all artfully displayed. Proceeds from the event benefit ACCESS and its community commitment to provide a holistic, safe and supportive environment to women and children in its shelter.
“Every day we try and educate the guests in our shelter about self-confidence and the power of living healthy and positive lives,” said Lynn Budnick, executive director of ACCESS, Inc. “We hope this event inspires those in attendance with that same confidence, and the knowledge that every time a piece of jewelry is worn from this event, that it’s not just a necklace or a bracelet. It’s a symbol of gratitude, love and the commitment we all share to serve families in need in our community.”
The Jewelry Box will begin with a VIP preview party on Friday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fairlawn DoubleTree and continue with a public sale on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The VIP party has been dubbed by the event committee as, “the ultimate ladies night out” and allows shoppers to be among the first to see and purchase their favorite pieces. A limited number of tickets for the Friday night event are available for a $25 donation and include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live music.
The Saturday sale is free to attend and will feature thousands of jewelry pieces along with raffle items, a fine jewelry section and local jewelry artists. For info or to purchase tickets, visit access-shelter.org.
