ACCESS, Inc., Akron’s homeless shelter for women and children, is set for its fourth-annual fundraiser The Jewelry Box, presented by Fred Martin Superstore and FirstEnergy Foundation, with more jewelry donated than ever before.
The popular, community-wide jewelry sale will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Akron – Fairlawn, 3150 W. Market St., on Saturday, Nov. 2. More than 25,000 pieces of donated jewelry have been pouring into ACCESS from community members across Northeast Ohio. The jewelry will be artfully displayed and available at the event for one price—$5 per piece. Designer pieces, sterling silver and gold pieces—priced per item—will also be available in a secondary room with local jewelry artists showcasing their own designs.
“It’s an absolutely unforgettable day,” said Jackie Hemsworth, executive director of ACCESS. “The Jewelry Box shoppers know that every time someone wears a piece of jewelry from this event, that it’s not just a necklace or a bracelet. It’s a symbol of gratitude, empowerment and the commitment we all share to serve families in need in our community.”
Proceeds from the fundraising event benefit ACCESS and its commitment to provide a holistic, safe and supportive environment to women and children in its shelter.
