The Junior League of Akron will host a new member recruitment open house that will provide an opportunity for those interested in the organization to meet current members, ask questions and learn about the volunteering, educational and social opportunities the League provides to its members.
The relaxed and informal event is open to the public and will take place Wednesday, June 15, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Mustard Seed Market Café in Highland Square (867 W. Market St.)
During its 90-year history, the organization’s members have contributed thousands of volunteer hours to organizations throughout Greater Akron. Members are business owners, working mothers, professional women and stay-at-home moms who are committed to community service. They represent more than 28 communities across Greater Akron.
The Junior League of Akron is a nonprofit organization formed in 1926 that provides opportunities for women to gain valuable volunteer expertise as well as professional skills while working on vital community projects. The Junior League of Akron empowers women for positive change in our community and ventures its members have started or participated in include Junior Leadership Akron, Family TIES, The Volunteer Center, Child Guidance Centers, Akron Artfest, Immunization Coalition of Summit County, The Community Wish List, Oral Health Initiative, Health Education Center, Battered Women’s Shelter, Safe Landing Runaway Shelter, Guardian Ad Litem and Mary Day Nursery (currently the Akron Children’s Hospital).
