Second installment takes place Aug. 29 at Akron Art Museum
On Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Akron Art Museum, Detroit born singer and songwriter Zo!, featuring Carmen Rodgers, will headline the second installment of the 2015 Keepers of the Art Music Showcase Concert Series, along with Washington D.C. singer, songwriter and MCee Ms. Miamouna Youssef.
Columbus’ own DJ Krate Digga will be spin classic soul music and “Golden Age” hip-hop music until midnight. Doors open at 7 p.m.
General admission is $15. The Akron Art Museum’s galleries will be open to concert guests between 7 and 8p.m.
The Keepers of the Art Music Showcase, formerly the Akron Hip-hop Showcase was founded in 2006. It was established to provide an annual venue for hip-hop’s pioneers and independent and/or B-side soul artists. To date the Showcase has featured such artists as Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, KRS One, Big Daddy Kane, Buckshot, Whodini, Rakim, MC Lyte, EPMD, Masta Ace, J-Live, Asheru, Brand Nubian, Nice & Smooth, Das Efx, Slum Village and others.
Keepers of the Art is nonprofit organization founded in 2006 designed to preserve the roots and integrity of urban art and culture through progressive educational and entertainment outlets.
