Community Legal Aid is extending an open invitation to the greater Akron community to come meet its new executive.
The purpose of the event is to invite community members into the organization and dialogue about its mission and vision with staff and leaders, including new Executive Director Steven McGarrity.
“One of Steven’s key areas of interest is in deepening our connections within the communities we serve,” said Board President Nancy Grim. “So we thought, what better way to introduce him to the community than to invite everyone in?”
The Open House will be the first event of its kind in recent years. Leadership is hoping to bring in its volunteers, local private attorneys, judges and other court employees, and staff from other community organizations and local foundations.
“This is as much an opportunity for me to hear from the community, as it is for the community to hear from me,” McGarrity shared. “I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and discussing the ways Legal Aid can help support their work and their clients or constituents.”
The event will provide free wine, beer, and hors d’ouerves for all those in attendance. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from McGarrity about his vision for the future of the Legal Aid.
