The inaugural Summit County Mental Health Entertainment & Food Festival is offering a safe place for residents to talk about mental health and will take place Saturday, Sept. 1, from noon to 8 p.m. at Joy Park Community Center, 825 Fuller Ave., in Akron.
The event, hosted by Life Solutions South, in partnership with the city of Akron, Joy Park, SAIUM Entertainment group, CTD Entertainment Management and Blue Line Police Support Services, is free and open to the public and will enable residents to meet with professionals and seek referrals for mental wellness. In addition, the festival will include guest speakers, family activities and entertainment, ranging from local performers to Atlantic R&B recording artist the Rude Boys.
“Our goal is to reach residents who need help with mental stressors of life,” said Christavus Dominic, community educator for Life Solutions South Akron and the event’s music chairperson. “We are offering this in a fun, relaxed and nonconfrontational environment.”
