Northeast Ohio rocker releases ‘We Are the Architects’
Cleveland writer, rocker, biker and geek Michael McFarland is pouring his soul into a new EP titled, “We Are the Architects.”
The cover displays a child using his structural imagination to build what he believes a skyscraper would look like. Those of us who are Northeast Ohio natives will recognize this building as the Terminal Tower in Cleveland, which has the majestic feel of a skyscraper in a larger city.
I was fortunate enough to be able listen to the 6 song, well written EP and I found myself relating to the bigger picture of what he is conveying in his lyrics. An upbeat guitar throughout carries that “feel-good” sense while listening and nodding your head. The style in which the instrumentals and acoustic guitar are carried out and the tone in which he sings brings me to a good place, as if sitting on the countryside with a pretty girl watching an alluring sunset.
McFarland has an obvious talent for his writing style. This EP is more relatable than I would have imagined and I have a strong belief that it will provide the same understanding for many others. There’s a powerful message in each song that speaks to the greater good of humanity and making ourselves appreciate being who we are. Though finding one’s true self in this world is difficult, he expresses the reason to continue searching. And for every great storyteller it is important that the audience can feel the emotion and passion of their words, which is exactly what his audience will receive.
I can tell how much of his heart and soul was put into these tracks due to the uncanny sense of enjoyment he got out of making this EP. You can hear happiness, passion, disdain and appreciation in the inflection of his voice and execution of the songs’ emotions.
For those out there looking for something to inspire them or to help create love, I suggest taking a chance with this LEGO-style album and letting the music open you up. Listening to this album was a great experience for me and allowed me to appreciate another writer’s work in the process. In short, I feel as though these songs have an absolute high chance to spread like wildfire and make an impact on the people who listen.
“We Are the Architects” is available for release on CD, digital download or LEGOs (yes, you read that correctly – it’s a LEGO set with a digital download code). Visit http://michaelmcfarlandmusic.com/.
