Miss Millie can give you the password to the hottest place in town! Jump back to the roaring 20’s when jazz and swing were all the rage and mixed drinks were invented. It will be the bees knees with musical stylings of the era by local talent The Angie Haze Project and special guest emcee Jeff St. Clair, local host of the radio program “All Things Considered” on WKSU-89.7 FM. Gather at the Playhouse on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, for a very special night of exquisite food, delicious drinks and terrific items and packages up for bid in both a silent-auction and an exciting live auction. Suggested attire: “flapper” or “1920’s style” optional.
All proceeds from the night will benefit the general operating fund of Weathervane Playhouse — thus ensuring that the show will always “go on!” To purchase online go to http://tiny.cc/WVP-Gala2016 or call the box office at 330 836-2626.
The Evening’s Honorary Chairpersons are Ms. Margaret J. Dietz and MS. Helen D. Fleming. Margaret was an instrumental part of Weathervane’s education division for many years. She was responsible for coordinating Youth Theater Workshop, Adult Workshop, Stage II and Play Selection Committee. Her four children were involved in various classes. This combined with her strong belief in the power of the “magic of make-believe” allowed for the creation of the John L. Dietz Theater, in memory of her youngest son. She also is a wealth of knowledge of Weathervane’s past, but never wants to hear that something cannot be changed or grow.
Helen has been involved at Weathervane for over 50 years. She served in many endeavors over those years including President of The Women’s Board, head of the Youth Theater Workshops, coordinator of the Christmas Show and recruitment of volunteers. Helen and her family were instrumental in the establishment of Weathervane in the Merriman Valley and husband Cue left an indelible mark on Weathervane. Helen’s continued support and attendance at the theater fills all of our days with the stories and memories of our history and an eye to our future.
