Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens invites families to bring Mom and Grandma for a special day on the Estate on Mother’s Day, May 8.
All mothers receive a complimentary admission (accompanying family members pay regular admission prices), which includes a self-guided tour of the 65-room Manor House, the Corbin Conservatory, the Gate Lodge and the landscaped historic gardens. Stan Hywet is located at 714 N. Portage Path, in Akron.
Open April through December, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is one of the area’s most important remaining examples of an American Country Estate built during the Industrial Age at the turn of the 20th century. Stan Hywet was home to F.A. Seiberling, co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and his family.
The 2016 season celebrates family and sharing stories, with a focus on the Seiberling family. In the Manor House, there are feature stories of the Seiberlings through family photos, letters and memorabilia. Twelve new “story cards” are available from staff to learn even more about the Seiberlings and Stan Hywet.
Molly’s Shop is filled with jewelry, apparel and other gifts for Mom, and the café is a great place to enjoy lunch or dessert.
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is open Tuesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (admissions closes at 4:30 p.m.) and the entire Estate is closed to the public on Mondays, except Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day when regular hours are in effect.
