Reception takes place April 21 at Hive Mind
— Nyki Fetterman is a senior art student at the University of Akron majoring in art education who has an eye for mixed media and collage and a sensibility for work that’s an once thoughtful and playful.
Her new exhibit, “Neutral Buoyancy,” is on display at Hive Mind through April 30 and takes a critical look at people’s attempts to mimic nature through such artificial landscapes as golf courses and swimming pools. The show features materials ranging from ceramics to astroturf, and the collages reflect the absurdity and awkwardness of these human attempts at replicating nature.
A reception for the show will take place Saturday, April 21, 6 to 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, and following the reception is a performance from local musician Posture. Hive Mind is located at 375 W. Exchange St. and is an all ages venue.
For info, visit the show’s Facebook event page.
The exhibit also is available for viewing at any future Hive Mind event or by appointment. For appointments, email [email protected].
