Akron Soul Train will present the work of Christa “Uno Lady” Ebert, Friday, Feb. 8, from 7 to 10 p.m., at Akron Recording Company, 243 Furnace St., Suite b, in downtown Akron.
Uno Lady, who was Akron Soul Train’s November artist-in-residence, is a Cleveland-based artist whose music is not confined to a single genre. She’s a self-trained one-woman choir who relies only on her voice for musical accompaniment.
With a microphone, small mixer and loop pedal perched upon a DIY lit podium, she uses layers of vocals to entrance, explore and invoke emotions. Haunting, serene and captivatingly beautiful, Uno Lady creates spell-like loops, spinning listeners into a musical web. Her voice reflects elements of opera, jazz, rock and electronic music.
The evening will open with a performance from Jeri Sapronetti, singer and guitarist of Akron-based band Time Cat.
Although admission is free, tickets are required. Visit https://www.akronsoultrain.org/event/uno-lady-at-akron-recording-company/ to reserve a spot.

Along with her Soul Train fellowship, Uno Lady has won the Panza Foundation award, the Creative Workforce Fellowship and has been named Best Voice and Top Band to Watch. Cleveland Magazine also listed Uno Lady as one of the “20 Reasons Why Cleveland’s Music Scene Rocks.”
Akron Soul Train is an artist residency program connecting and empowering the community and artists by granting fellowships that provide resources for all creative disciplines, thereby fostering a more vibrant downtown Akron.
