Local artists Sandra Holata and Melinda Buchholz will be featured in the upcoming art show, “Paper and Glue,” at Akron’s Hazel Tree Interiors.
The opening reception of Hazel Tree’s newest gallery show will take place Feb. 7, from 5 to 9 p.m., during the February Akron ArtWalk.
Each artist brings a different element to “Paper and Glue.” Holata’s artwork is organic in style, while Buchholz’ work is colorful and bright with a modern flair.
Holata’s paper art is made from all recycled materials. The surface texture and staining of the paper is made by pressing wet paper pulp onto leaves and branches. She also creates photographic imagery that is printed by hand using a liquid photo emulsion painted on recycled food boxes.
Buchholz creates colorful medleys on canvas by using hot glue. She then paints over the multiple layers to create a dimensional surface while experimenting with color theory.
The gallery show, “Paper and Glue,” will run from Feb. 7 through March 28. The opening reception will take place Saturday, Feb. 7, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Hazel Tree Interiors, 143 W. Market St., during the Akron ArtWalk.
Year-round gallery and picture framing/interior design studio hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For info, visit hazeltreeinteriors.com.
