Shaneen A. Harris, poet and author from Akron, has teamed up with the Akronist to produce the “Poetry Unchained” show, a look at poetry and its various forms and uses. Harris says that poetry may be found just about anywhere and her show aims to prove this.
Says Harris: “Poetry has served to help educate us, motivate us, inspire us, empower us and also entertain us.” Poetry is found everywhere, it’s all about how you look at it and listen to it.
In this episode, Harris sits down with Jaron LeGrair, a local singer/song writer and voice/speech trainer who creates poetry with his piano and with his voice. He explains his background and where he gets his inspiration from while offering a quick lesson on how to write a song.
If you would like to be on Poetry Unchained or know of someone who would make a great guest, or if you would like to share a poem, contact Shaneen Harris at [email protected].

Mr. Green Your Program by Shaneen A. Harris was more than I expected. I don’t see programs that both entertain and teach. Mr. Legrair was expressive and knowledgeable about his art. Ms. Harris was an excellent host that did not dominate the interview. I thought she was a guide. It was different and delightful. Thanks
for the fresh wave of creative vision.

I’m inspired by your show Shaneen.
I remember the line of a movie that said: ” “Release The Cracken”.
Shaneen, God is using you to educate, expose and encourage our community about “Poetry”.
Thank you Mr. Legrair for humbly sharing your heart through your beautiful work!
Blue, thank you for producing this show! You knocked it out the park!
