Connect2Akron (c2a) seeks to connect college students, recent graduates and young professionals with non-profit organizations in the Greater Akron region. Connect2Akron is a free event and will take place Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Akron Art Museum.
The initiative is the result of a collaboration of the ArtCetera, Downtown Akron Partnership Emerging Leaders, Torchbearers, Young Professionals of Akron, and Young Professionals Network organizations in an effort to increase the connectivity of our area’s young professional population and make a meaningful and lasting impact on our community.
“We are bringing together nonprofit organizations who have articulated a specific need or needs our target population can meet,” said Nicole Mullet, Torchbearers Board Member and c2a committee member. “Guests will have meaningful interaction and connection with the nonprofits starting with information, but expanding to include the opportunity to sign up for future volunteer or fundraising efforts.”
“Connect2Akron is a great way for members of the community to engage with nonprofits, while discovering a wide array of opportunities from volunteering to sitting on a board,” said Amber Genet, president of Downtown Akron Partnership Emerging Leaders and c2a committee member. “c2a is unique in that we will have members from area young professional groups on hand to help people match interests with nonprofit organizations. It’s a win-win for everyone from the individual & organization to the community as a whole.”
The event is being sponsored by Akron Rotary, Proximity Marketing, Tim Fitzwater of Zipper City Photography, the Knight Foundation and the Akron Art Museum.
