“Creativity Inspired by Recovery” art exhibition opens with a reception 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 5, at the Margaret Clark Morgan Art Gallery located at 10 W. Streetsboro Street, Hudson.
The exhibit takes place through July 9, and the Margaret Clark Morgan Art Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.to 4 p.m.
Together, Portage Path Behavioral Health and The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation are proud to present this display of works by more than a dozen artists, many of whom will be at the reception to talk about their work. This exhibition showcases the talent of clients of Portage Path Behavioral Health, overcoming mental illness and providing insight into the relationship between creative expression and recovery.
Expressive arts are often critical in a person’s recovery from mental illness. The talented artists in this exhibition include established artists as well as individuals whose introduction to making art occurred during their journey to mental wellness.
Art therapy is one of many avenues toward recovery encouraged at Portage Path Behavioral Health, whose mission is to provide outpatient, inpatient, emergency and other specialized behavioral health services to individuals and other purchasers in the Northeast Ohio region.
The mission of the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation is to improve the lives of people with serious mental illness by investing in innovative projects in Northeast Ohio having national transformational impact. The Foundation recognizes the value of the arts to the community in general, as well as its role in overall mental wellness, and therefore dedicates a portion of its grant-making to support of the arts.
